Biography 2026

Irma Reeder comes from generations of Ozark mountain musicians.  She has sung with a Jazz trio, opera/light opera companies, as well as a Silver Screen Cowboy band.  Irma loves teaching voice, guitar, Celtic harp, and mountain dulcimer and dabbles with a variety of other instruments.  She started playing the dulcimer in 2005 and has loved participating in festivals and contests, placing 3rd  at Winfield in 2021.  She worked as church music administrator/choir director for 35 years and has directed a 90+ voice chorus for 5 years.  Irma is passionate about promoting dulcimers and directs a group of dulcimer students (Sandia Mountain Dulcimers) that perform regularly at libraries and started Strings of the SW Dulcimer Jam to promote community.  She is a workshop leader, manager, and past Board member of the Albuquerque Folk Festival, and co-founded the New Mexico Dulcimer Association in 2010. She and her husband, Scott, have been playing music together since 1978!  Irma has 3 CDs and 2 dulcimer tab books.
