Don’t Search for Tab! Make Your Own Chord/Melody Arrangements.
Level 4
You know some tunes and their chords but want to play *all* the music. Every player discovers a tune that doesn’t have tab and ends up creating their own. Using familiar tunes, this class will teach tricks to help your unique take come alive. Class will be interactive: students will move through the arranging process with options, suggestions, and concrete examples. This class is appropriate for multiple levels, regardless of playing ability. Capos suggested.

Saturday, Session #6
“Wayfaring Stranger” a study in fingerpicking
Level 2
No picks needed when you use your fingers to do the plucking! Exercises to gain facility with picking individual strings, a variety of picking patterns, and methods for streamlining the process are introduced. After a bit of practice the techniques are applied to this beautiful and familiar tune. Capo needed.

Saturday, Session #7
“Ashokan Farewell” Chord/Melody & Back-up
Level 3
Known as the theme for Ken Burns’ “Civil War”, this popular waltz was written by Jay Ungar in 1984. Besides learning a chord melody arrangement, you’ll discover how to overlay a three-quarter time strum – a skill that can serve for future waltz tunes. To top it all off, you’ll get the back-up part to share with a partner.
